Detroit Pistons mascot, Hooper, visits Head Start to teach healthy eating, exercise Posted: May 25, 2016 Updated: June 03, 2016

Thanks to the Champions of Healthy Kids grant through General Mills, OLHSA was able to bring in Hooper, the mascot from the Detroit Pistons, to visit Head Start classrooms in Pontiac. Hooper visited all of the classrooms throughout the day and explained the importance of physical activity and healthy eating. He also led the children in some simple exercises, like jumping jacks, running in place, and stretches. The preschoolers enjoyed the exercise and lots of laughs could be heard from the classrooms while Hooper and his sidekick Hype Man were visiting.
