Homelessness is present in Livingston County: How you can help Posted: December 08, 2014

Do you have a passion for helping the homeless? It may not be as visible as urban areas, but homelessness is present in Livingston County. Together with the community, the Livingston County Homeless Continuum of Care Committee kicked off a campaign on November 15 and is raising awareness and donations for homeless individuals.

The committee is comprised of nonprofit organizations which include, OLHSA, The Connection Youth Services, LACASA, Love Inc., and the Salvation Army. Events that helped raise awareness included The Connection Youth Services homelessness silhouette display in front of the Howell Courthouse, a student art show at the Howell Opera House and the Historic Howell Theatre showing of The Fisher King, a movie about a homeless man.

November 15th to the 23rd was Homelessness Awareness Week, but the need to create awareness and receive donations is constant, especially during the winter season. Visit www.livingstonhomeless.org for more information.
