Save the Date for Oakland Walk for Warmth Posted: November 13, 2013 Updated: November 13, 2013
A date has been set for the 2014 OLHSA Walk for Warmth in Oakland County: Mark your calendar for February 8, 2014.
This annual walk-a-thon raises money for OLHSA’s Emergency Utility Assistance program, which helps residents of Oakland and Livingston counties when they are faced with utility shut-off notices.
Imagine receiving word that your power will be cut off just as you are about to enter the coldest months of the year. Could you explain to your children that you don’t have the means to heat your home? Unfortunately, this is a reality for many of our neighbors. Through Walk for Warmth, OLHSA is working to raise funds to help people in this situation. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Walk for Warmth go toward restoring power for our neighbors, which is especially useful in these chilly winter months.
Genisys Credit Union is honored to be the premier presenting sponsor of this event once again. We are avid supporters of OLHSA for all of the wonderful things this organization does for our community. Since 2010, OLHSA has assisted more than 50,000 residents of Oakland and Livingston counties to provide them with services that lead them to live better lives.
I encourage everyone in the community – from corporations to small businesses to individuals – to support OLHSA by coming out to walk in the 2014 event. If you are unable to walk, please consider volunteering your time, donating, or finding another way to contribute. Together, we can walk for a warmer future for our neighbors.
